The Dixie Chicks changed the face of music with a combination of feistiness, sensitivity, and sheer musicianship that traded every prevailing women-in-country stereotype for the freedom of Wide Open Spaces. The trio s trailblazing invigoration was rewarded with 14 Top-10 country singles six of which reached No. 1 and two successive 10-million-selling albums. By their fourth disc, they d broadened their sound and fan base enough to sweep the top all-genre awards at the GRAMMYS®. Frontiers for women in country or rock truly never seemed so wide open.
